31 Days, 31 Villains: #15, Antiochus

This villain from the bizarre play Pericles, Prince of Tyre is depraved, cruel, and calculated. He goes above and beyond a fairy tale villain to be truly horrifying. If he weren’t only in Act I he’d be higher.

#30 – Saturninus, Titus Andronicus
#29 – Cloten, Cymbeline
#28, #27 – Chiron and Demetrius, Titus Andronicus

Shakespeare Themes: Late Plays

I half-seriously talk through the late plays: Cymbeline, The Winter’s Tale, The Tempest, Pericles, and Two Noble Kinsmen, and the themes that recur in them. What kind of world is Shakespeare going for here? This is a general overview, and more detail is forthcoming in later episodes.
